JD School of Design and Bengaluru City University organised the Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition, to which the students had looked forward for the entire year, held on Thursday, 6th November 2025. The event went off with a bang and was attended by all the best athletes in the city, and there was, of course, the spirit of competition and friendship.
Several colleges in the city of Bengaluru showed their commitment to the event by sending their students to compete at the highest level. The participants had only one aim in mind: to perform at the absolute highest level. The program included a variety of swim styles and distances, and this was an excellent way to gauge the speed of a freestyle sprint, as well as the endurance and technical skills of the breaststroke and butterfly, etc.
As soon as the referee whistled, the whole atmosphere at the pavilion changed. People stopped talking, supporters looked intently, and all the spectators focused on the water. Each competition had its own tempo — the frantic freestyle battle, the steady and meditative backstroke, and the rapid rise of the butterfly followed. The swimmers’ hard work was obvious in each lap, each dive, and each push for the finish line.
Moments That Stood Out
Some races left a lasting impression on everyone present. The freestyle relay was easily one of the most exhilarating highlights of the event. The seamless coordination between teammates, the last-second overtakes, and the thunder of cheers from the crowd made it an unforgettable watch.
The breaststroke finals were another crowd favourite. With swimmers displaying impeccable control and sheer grit, the audience couldn’t help but applaud their technical finesse and determination.
Between races, students from different colleges mingled freely — exchanging words of encouragement, sharing snacks, taking group pictures, and celebrating each other’s wins. It was a reminder that inter-collegiate competitions aren’t just about medals; they’re about connections, memories, and the joy of showing up for one another.
JD School of Design and Bengaluru City University put their efforts, which were clearly visible in the flawless execution of the events of the day. They coordinated it perfectly over several weeks to ensure that every detail from race timing to safety teams, hydration stations, and participant support, rt was impeccable.
Moreover, it was the volunteers without whom the event would not have been successful. Their cheerful nature and readiness to help ensured that the event was going on smoothly, and the energy and spirits were always high. It was indeed the effort of the whole community, with every person playing their different role.
A Celebration of Talent and Growth
As daylight was fading, the event was brought to a close with an emotional medal and trophy presentation. The happy expression of the winners, the excited shouts of their teammates, and the atmosphere of achievement were what made the perfect ending to a day well spent.
However, besides the medals, there was something more profound that was felt. Such events make students aware that sports offer what classes cannot, namely, resilience, equilibrium, humility, and the fun of going beyond one’s limits. They give the youth a chance to find out they are stronger than they thought.
The 2025 Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition was far from being just a simple university meet. It was an event with a lot of stories — of kids who, for the very first time, competed in a swimming race, of the teams that got stronger by the wins and losses that they experienced together, and of a community that came together to support the effort rather than the outcome.
JD School of Design closed the day with a thank you to God and feeling joyful — joyful for every single person who got involved in the competition and grateful to have been a part of such an event that brought so much enthusiasm, unity, and the spirit of youth to the student community of Bengaluru.
